Led a menstrual product drive and workshop to promote menstrual health and dignity for over 350 women and girls in rural India.
May 2024 - July 2024
Are periods natural? Absolutely. 🩸
Yet, in many parts of the world, menstruation is still shrouded in stigma and shame.
Through the Empowering Hatta initiative, I organized an educational menstrual product drive across 30 villages in and around Hatta, India. With the help of community support, I raised over $1,070 and partnered with Saathi Garment Trading LLC to distribute sanitary panties to more than 168 women and girls at Shishu Mandir School, Chatravas Rajpura School, and Navghat.
Beyond distribution, I led workshops focused on breaking taboos around menstruation, promoting hygienic practices, and empowering menstruators to embrace their bodies without shame. I created a special video for the drive, Voices Unmuted, to educate and combat stigma within households.
This project reinforced a simple message: no one should be held back by something as natural as menstruation.
