Transforming Trash into Treasure: Repurposing Plastic for Joy

Plastic waste is a global crisis. But, with a little creativity, even trash can become treasure.

After visiting over 50 local salons and homes, I collected three large bags of discarded plastic bottles. Partnering with the Beloved all-girl youth group at St. Mary and St. Philopater Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church, we repurposed over 55 plastic bottles into self-watering mint planters, colorful bottle cap magnets, and soothing sensory bottles.

We donated these handcrafted items to residents at the Holiday Dogwood Terrace Independent Living Homes, bringing a little extra joy and greenery into their lives.
